Mara Timbo

A true nature experience

Mara Timbo Camp is perfectly situated in untamed bush in the western part of Masai Mara, near the Oloololo escarpment, where the classic movie “Out of Africa” was filmed. The Camp is on 300 acres of land, owned by a Masai landlord. Game drives are in customised Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, with a capacity of 6, which ensures maximum comfort when taking in the stunning photographic views of the landscape and wildlife.

Setting

Mara Timbo sits in a loop of the Mara River and offers its guests a perfect panoramic view of two huge families of hippos and an awe inspiring vision of an harmonious landscape. This balance or harmony is apparent from the moment you land on the small airstrip. As the plane lands you can observe animals in their natural surroundings simply going about their business and are undisturbed in any way. The Camp has a profound respect for the environment, the Masai Mara people and their traditions. This is coupled with a strong ecokind philosophy which respects the natural resources without compromising the five star luxury of the accommodation.

Benefits

Your body will adjust to its natural rhythm with nature. You will literally feel yourself slow down, rise with the sun and sleep when darkness comes. Expect to start your day early so you can begin your safari. There is no way to prepare you for the experience and fulfilment you will enjoy from just by being so close to nature and these beautiful wild animals.

Eateries

Breakfast and dinner is served by your personal butler on the banks of the Mara River just a few feet away from a family of hippos. Three course menus are available for lunch and dinner, one always vegetarian. One of the most extraordinary experiences you may ever have, eating with Hippos. A magical story to pass on to family and generations to come.

Feel Good Factor

There is a lot to experience and you can do as much or as little as you want while staying at Mara Timbo. Besides the safari, the evenings are full of laughter while socialising with the Masai – sharing their fascinating stories over drinks. The knowledge, humour and warmth will be something that will stay for you forever.
