Uma Paro

Fitness and culture in luxury

Uma Paro nestles majestically inland in Paro, a main cultural centre in Bhutan, and dedicates its philosophy to the rich location culture. Landlocked in the western Himalayas between India and China, Bhutan was in self-imposed isolation for centuries. When looking at the fate of other Himalayan countries around, it looks like its isolation served it well. Guests experience a place of meditative adventure amongst rich landscape and hospitable, spiritual people, your stay will be a truly uplifting experience. Bhutan still remains one of the most mysterious countries in the world. When talking about Bhutan, you quickly realise that many people have never even heard about this small, remote Himalayan kingdom.

Setting

Uma Paro sits amongst flower filled valleys and dramatic hills wrapped in mist with rich, breathtaking and uplifting views.  The resort is understated, minimalistic chic with wood crafted furniture and Bhutanese wall paintings by local artisans. All accommodation offers COMO Shambhala luxury with views of the surrounding pine forests or the Paro Valley. You will benefit from not only the environment but daily Yoga, meditation and treatments at the COMO Shambhala Spa.

Insider Tips

At such high altitudes the evenings can get chilly so do pack something warm, keep hydrated. Pack a pair of walking shoes. Smoking in public places in Bhutan is illegal and cigarettes are not sold in shops, so throw away your smokes and use this as a great opportunity to give up. If you can, try and be there for the colourful festival season particularly the annual opening of the scroll.

Celebrity Fans

COMO keeps all its celebrities a closely guarded secret but do not be surprised if an adventurous celebrity appears in your yoga practice.
