Body cleansing is based on the idea that foods consumed, our environment and the chemicals we use can be harmful to our bodies and hamper its ability to function efficiently. Our bodies are amazing and can deal with these by filtering out the bad. It was also evident in the Indian Ayurveda practice and later in Austria. The theory was supported up until the early twentieth century when the method of cleansing fell out of fashion and was abandoned in favour of modern medicine. However, cleansing was still followed by alternative medical practitioners. In recent years cleansing has become recognised once more and, with it, various modern detox methods. It has been employed to increase the body’s effectiveness and gives prolonged benefits. When investing in a cleansing programme it is best to seek professional guidance and prepare beforehand.
