Chiva Som sits on a beautiful beachfront in Hua Hin, Thailand. It has long been a retreat for Royalty and Thailand’s elite. The beachfront offers a calm and idyllic environment all year round. In the morning, monks can be seen making their daily rounds accepting food and donations from locals. Just half an hour’s walk from Chiva Som is a cliff with a stunning temple and an enormous Buddha overlooking the coast and downtown Hua Hin. As with most of Greece, Skiathos experienced Roman rule in the second century BC, Venetian rule from 1204 for over 300 years until the 14th century when it became part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1830, as with the rest of Greece, Skiathos gained its independence and attracted poets and artists. The Island was heavily bombed and even burnt in the 19th century during German occupation. After the war the Island recovered rapidly.
